MOSCOW, June 27 (Itar-Tass) — The Interior Ministry launched a service inquiry over an open letter for the interior minister from the head of the public movement “Pigs Against” over police negligence, the press service of the main Interior Ministry’s department in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
The police reported that the group of young people from Moscow, the Moscow Region and Kursk that are volunteers of the movement “Pigs Against” that is looking for the products of inferior quality and with expired dates at the shops and wearing the costumes of pigs were seeking at about 14:30 Moscow time on June 26 to enter the St. Petersburg supermarket Narodny, which is situated on the Kasygin Avenue, but were beaten by ten unidentified hooligans. The police do not rule out that they are employees of the supermarket.
“After the incident four beaten people turned for medical aid in the traumatology centre with various injuries and after that decided to file a petition to the 13th police station in the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg. According to their words, the policemen began to talk them out of writing a petition instead of registering their petition. Indignant with this fact the leader of the movement “Pigs Against” wrote down an open letter to the interior minister with the request to settle the situation,” the press service said.
The press service noted that now “the leadership of the main Interior Ministry’s department in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region launched a service inquiry. If this fact is confirmed guilty police officers and their chiefs will be brought to justice.”
