27 taiga fires out of 91 have been put out in Far East over 24 hrs

The fires gutted out 2,948 hectares of forest tracts

KHABAROVSK, June 27 (Itar-Tass) — Hot weather in the Far East is aggravating the fire-hazard situation with every passing day. On Tuesday, 91 forest fires raged in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD), with 51 fires registered in Khabarovsk Territory.

Twenty-seven fires were extinguished in six constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the country's east and another 19 were localized over the past 24 hours. The fires gutted out 2,948 hectares of forest tracts, an official at the FEFD Forestry Department told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

An official at the Far Eastern regional center of the Russian Ministy for Emergencies said, "Two highest-powered helicopters Mi-26 on Wednesday begin to put out forest fires in the eastern areas of Khabarovsk Terrtitory and on Sakhalin".
