Biggest observation wheel in Russia installed in Sochi

The wheel is more than 80 meters tall; it will open in the Lazarevskoye Theme Park on June 30

SOCHI, June 26 (Itar-Tass) — The biggest observation wheel in Russia has been installed in Sochi. The wheel is more than 80 meters tall; it will open in the Lazarevskoye Theme Park on June 30, the resort administration told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The opening ceremony will be unusual. “More than 60 resort residents of various nationalities will sing the Russian national anthem standing in open cabins of the observation wheel,” it said. The town applied for putting the event on the Guinness Book of Records.

Until recently Russia’s biggest observation wheel was the Moscow 850, which lifted visitors to the height of 75 meters.

Earlier this year Sochi put into service the most highland observation wheel in the country. It was installed on Mount Akhun and presented a view from the altitude of 700 meters above the sea level.
