MINSK, June 26 (Itar-Tass) — A would-be Eurasian parliament should be created through direct elections, State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin said on Tuesday addressing students and professors of the Academy of Public Administration under the president of Belarus on Tuesday.
“I am a great supporter of Eurasian integration and I believe in successful project of the parliamentary dimension of Eurasian integration,” he said.
He noted that the working group that should develop a road map for transition from the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community to the Eurasian Interparliamentary Assembly and then to the full-fledged parliamentary body, i.e. to a Eurasian parliament started operation.
“I am confident that a Eurasian parliament should be formed through direct elections,” he said.
