Three suspects in Siberian Chemical Plant bribery case arrested in Tomsk

The Tomsk regional department of the Federal Security Service opened a criminal case

MOSCOW, June 24 (Itar-Tass) —— The Tomsk Leninsky District Court upheld the petition of detectives and ordered custody of the Siberian Chemical Plant general director, his deputy for economics and finance and the executive director of the TVEL material and technical supplies directorate suspected of corrupt business practices on Sunday.

The Russian Investigation Committee said that the general director and his deputy had been indicted under Part 4, Article 204 of the Russian Criminal Code. “They pleaded not guilty and refused to testify,” the committee said.

The TVEL directorate’s executive director was detained in Moscow and taken to Tomsk on Saturday. He will be indicted soon.

Detectives said that the plant general director and his two deputies in charge of economics and finance and supplied, as well as the TVEL executive agreed with the International Technologies and Trade Center general director to assist his commercial interest in coal supplies to the plant for a monthly fee.

A coal supply contract was signed with the International Technologies and Trade Center with the value of 557 million rubles.

A sum of 6.7 million rubles was handed over by the plant’s deputy general director for supplies in February-May, the committee said. He went to Moscow in May and transferred 2.77 million rubles from the received sum to the TVEL executive director.

The suspects – the plant general director, his deputy for economics and finance and the TVEL executive director – were detained on June 22 and 23.

“The search of the general director’s home revealed more than 80 million rubles and gold bars of three kilograms,” the committee said.

The Tomsk regional department of the Federal Security Service opened a criminal case. A task force was formed including eleven detectives of the Tomsk regional department of the Russian Investigation Committee and Federal Security Service officers. Investigative procedures are underway. Evidence is being collected.
