PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, June 24 (Itar-Tass) — A quake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale has been fixed off the northeastern coast of Russia’s Kamchatka. Nobody was injured, and there was no destruction. There is no tsunami danger, sources from the seismic station in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky told Tass on Sunday.
According to seismologists, the underground jolt was fixed at 15:15 local time on Sunday (07:15 Moscow time). The epicenter was in the sea near Ozerny Cape, at a depth of 34 kilometers. The district centre of Ossora is situated about 197 kilometers from the epicenter. The nearest settlement, Ivashka, is located 147 kilometers from the epicenter.
Sources from the emergencies ministry’s regional department told Tass that there had been no negative aftermath from the quake. “Jolts were not even felt in the settlements situated closest to the epicenter,” they said.
