KHARKOV, Ukraine, June 23 (Itar-Tass) — German Professor Karl Marx Einhopl from the Charite clinic arrived in a Kharkov hospital belonging to Ukrainian Railways on Saturday to examine Ukraine’s opposition leader Yulia Timoshenko, the hospital’s chief doctor Mikhail Afanasyev said.
“Einhopl arrived in Kharkov yesterday evening. He will examine the ex-prime minister today and return to Germany,” he clarified.
Yulia Timoshenko is serving a sentence in a Khrakov prison for exceeding her powers when she signed gas contracts with Russia in 2009. She agreed to undergo treatment in a hospital belonging to the Ukrainian Railways in May on condition that a specialist of the Charite clinic would be her doctor. The next day Timoshenko was hospitalized after a 20-day hunger strike. She had gone on hunger strike in protest against the brutal treatment on the part of her bodyguards who transported her from prison to the clinic.
