Schedule of Russia-China contacts to be intensive until yearend

The countries are already discussing a probable meeting between the top leaders of Russia and China on the sidelines of the APEC summit

HONG KONG, June 22 (Itar-Tass) —— The schedule of Russian-Chinese political contacts “will be intensive and substantial” in the second half of this year, Russian Ambassador in China Sergei Razov told Itar-Tass on Friday.

He named an APEC summit due in Vladivostok in September 2012 among the top events. “The countries are already discussing a probable meeting between the top leaders of Russia and China on the sidelines of the APEC summit. Similar meetings are possible in other international formats,” he noted.

“Before the end of this year Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao should visit Russia as part of regular meetings between the prime ministers of the countries. We also expect a visit of the speakers of both houses of our parliament in China,” the diplomat went on to say.

The countries also scheduled contacts at the Russian Security Council. The bilateral commission for military-technical cooperation is to have a meeting. Several other events are scheduled. The closing ceremony of the Year of Russian Tourism in China will be held.

The ambassador called such intensive schedule “as an indicator that the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between Russia and China are developing stably and steadily.”
