Film producer Alexander Potyomkin dies at 54

MOSCOW, June 21 (Itar-Tass) — Alexander Potyomkin, the producer of the Taras Bulba feature film and the Long-Distance Drivers TV series, has died in Moscow at the age of 54, a source at the Russian Filmmakers’ Union told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

Potyomkin was a member of the Russian Filmmakers’ Union. He started his career at the Mosfilm studios in the capacity of deputy director. Since 1998 he had been director of the ARK-Film studio.

Alexander Potyomkin took part in making many contemporary Russian films, such as The Children of the Arbat; Moscow Windows; Pechorin. The Hero of Our Time; Attention, Moscow’s Speaking!

A source at the Russian Filmmakers’ Union told Itar-Tass that Alexander Potyomkin would be buried at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery at midday on Saturday, June 23.
