Alaid ship carrying Syrian helicopters to call at Murmansk June 23

The shipowner was informed about the termination of the effect of the third-party insurance liability

MOSCOW, June 21 (Itar-Tass) —— The Alaid ship, which is carrying Syrian helicopters Mi-25, will arrive at the port of Murmansk on June 23, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

“The Alaid ship, which is carrying Syrian helicopters Mi-25, set out in the high seas on June 11,” Lukashevich said. “During the crossing from the North Sea to the Atlantic the shipowner was informed about the termination of the effect of the third-party insurance liability, as well as the demand of the classification society, in which the ship is registered, and the ship is flying the colours of Curacao, to call at any port for inspection,” he said. “To avoid a possible detention of the ship it was decided that she will call at the port of Murmansk, where she is expected to change its flag for the Russian flag on Saturday,” he underlined.
