ULYANOVSK, June 20 (Itar-Tass) — The Ulyanovsk court on Wednesday passed another ruling to enforce the appearance of Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov at a battery case trial. The next hearing is due at 10:00, Moscow time, on June 27.

The Danilovsky department of the Moscow bailiff service has been instructed to convoy Udaltsov to Ulyanovsk. The defendant has not attended the four previous hearings on June 5, 9, 15 and 20.

On Wednesday, two statements were forwarded to the court by Udaltsov's defence. One says the Opposition activist has been hospitalized and that he is unable to come. The second statement written by Udaltsov's lawyer Violetta Volkova states that she cannot attend the hearings due to her workload at other hearings and asked to postpone her client's trial.

The court also announced the report by Moscow bailiffs saying "they are unable to enforce Udalstov's appearance because he cannot be found at his address."

The coordinator has been charged with beating up Ulyanovsk journalist Anna Pozdnyakova during the sanctioned anti-NATO rally on April 21. Criminal proceedings against him were opened under Article 116, Part 1 /beating or use of violence causing physical pain/.

If convicted, he may face a fine up to 40,000 roubles or a three-month arrest. Udaltsov denies his guilt.

Pozdnyakova told Tass she would not recall her battery case against Udaltsov from the court.
