Russia to show its upgraded Mi-26T2 to Algerian Air Force

The helicopter Mi-26T2 has new glass cockpit, airborne radio-electronic equipment and navigation system

MOSCOW, June 19 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s helicopter manufacturing company Rostvertol will demonstrate its upgraded heavy transport helicopter Mi-26T2 to the Algerian Armed Force on July 5-16, a Russian defence complex official told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

In early July the helicopter will fly to Algeria from Rostov-on-Don, southern Russia.

The helicopter Mi-26T2 has new glass cockpit, airborne radio-electronic equipment and navigation system. Cockpit lighting equipment will be adjusted for the use of night vision goggles.

After the helicopter’s demonstration flight Algeria will decide whether to buy a batch of Mi-26T2.

At present, the Algerian Air Force have no heavy transport helicopters like Mi-26T2 in its fleet using transport helicopters made in the Soviet Union and Russia – two Mi-6, four Mi-4, 28 Mi2, 47 Mi-8, 42 Mi-171 and five Ka-32 helicopters.
