IRKUTSK, June 19 (Itar-Tass) — A six-year-old girl was killed and three more children were wounded in a grenade explosion in the Irkutsk region.

The incident occurred in a private house in the village of Khudoyelan in the Nizneudinsk region northwest of Irkutsk. One of the three hospitalized children is in serious condition, a source from a regional Interior department told Itar-Tass. Preliminary reports said the children were playing with anti- tank grenades when one of them exploded.

A 34 year-old man presumed to be the culprit of the tragedy has been detained. Shortly before the incident the man found the grenades near a military test range and kept them neglected at a summer kitchen, where the kids found them.

A pre-trial investigation into the incident is going on. A team of investigators, detectives, policemen and a regional FSB department from Irkutsk have gone to the site of the incident. Bomb experts are expected to arrive there as well.
