One die, nine injured, including five children, in road accident in Volgograd region

Three of the injured, including two children, are in critical condition

VOLGOGRAD, June 19 (Itar-Tass) — One person was killed and nine more, including five children, were injured in a road accident in Russia’s southern Volgograd region, a spokesman for the regional traffic police told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The accident took place at about 23:50 Moscow time on Monday in a highway linking the settlements of Mikhailovka and Danilovka. A Daewoo Nexia ran off its lane at a high speed and rammed a VAZ-2106 car.

A VAZ-2106 front seat passenger was killed. The woman driver was hospitalized. “In all, there were nine people in the VAZ car, including five children aged from three to five, which prohibited by traffic regulations,” the spokesman said.

Three of the injured, including two children, are in critical condition. Three children are in condition of moderate gravity.

The Daewoo car driver, who is preliminarily held responsible for the accident, was not drunk. He was hospitalized. A criminal case may be opened.
