MOSCOWE, June 18 (Itar-Tass) — EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has asked for a pause till Tuesday afternoon to reflect on Iran’s proposals and its response to the Sextet initiatives, deputy secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Bagheri said on Monday.
“In the morning we’ve discussed Iran’s position and Ashton has exposed the Sextet view. Then she asked for a pause till tomorrow afternoon in order to reflect on Iran’s proposals and study Tehran’s response to the Sextet initiatives,” Bagheri stressed.
According to the deputy secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Iran insists both parties should take steps. “Today we’ve discussed a plan consisting of five points. We are sure that it can be implemented if both parties comply with the plan.”
“The first day of talks were held in a constructive and serious atmosphere. We discussed proposals by the parties and our positions. The talks were held in a constructive atmosphere,” the deputy secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council stressed.
“We found points of contact on certain issues,” he added.
