MOSCOW, June 18 (Itar-Tass) — Police have seized around 1 tonne of illegal sturgeon species, caviar and king crab on Moscow’s Dorogomilovsky market, the press service of the Interior Ministry’s economic security and anti-corruption department told Itar-Tass on Monday.
“During a special raid police found in fish retail shops, storage facilities and refrigerators products of precious fish species – black and red caviar, sturgeon, king crab – that were marketed without necessary documents testifying catch legality and safety for consumer’s health,” the source said,
Moreover, police found a batch of great sturgeon put on the international and Russian red list of endangered species.
“All illegal products were seized and taken for examination,” the source said.
