WARSAW, June 17 (Itar-Tass) — Russia has failed to enter the quarters of the Euro 2012 football championship after losing to Greece in a third round match in Group A (0-1).

Georgios Karagunis of Greece kicked a goal into the gates of Vyacheslav Malafeyev on the 45th minute of the game.

The match took place at the national stadium in Warsaw. About 55,614 fans, including 20,000 Russians and 4,000 Greeks, watched the game.

The temperature in Warsaw was 25 degrees above zero. It was the hottest day in Warsaw since the EURO 2012 start.

The Czech Republic defeated the Poles in another Group A match 1-0.

The Czech Republic (6) and Greece (4) are the two Group A teams to play in the quarters. Russia with four points is third and Poland with two points is fourth.
