GRROZNY, June 17 (Itar-Tass) — Torrential rain has left more than 100,000 residents of the Chechen Republic without electricity, a spokesperson for the main Russian Emergencies Ministry department for the Chechen Republic told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
Partial power cuts occurred in the Naursky, Shelkovsky, Kurchaloyevsky, Groznensko-Selsky, Itum-Kalinsky and Shatoi districts of Chechnya and in the Chechen capital of Grozny at 21:20 Moscow time on Saturday. As a result, 100,500 people were left without electricity and light in their homes.
The spokesperson said that socially significant facilities where people stay at night are operating normally from reserve electric power supply sources.
Repair workers and a team of the Russian Emergencies Ministry department for the Chechen Republic are trying to restore the power supply.
