ULYANOVSK, June 15 (Itar-Tass) — The Ulyanovsk Court ruled on the attachment of coordinator of the Left Front Sergei Udaltsov for a next court session at 10:00 Moscow time on June 20 to try the criminal case over the beating of a journalist.
The oppositionist and his lawyer Violetta Volkova did not turn up for a court session again on Friday. Udaltsov is to be interrogated in Moscow about the details of keeping the television reporter during the investigation into the criminal case over the disorders on the Bolotnaya Square.
The defendant was also absent at the court sessions in the Ulyanovsk Court on June 5 and June 9. The court found that he evaded from court summons deliberately and ruled for his attachment in the court on June 20.
The Left Front coordinator is accused of beating the journalist at an authorized anti-NATO rally on April 21. The criminal case was opened against him under Article 116 Part 1 of the Criminal Code for battery and other violent actions that caused physical pain. The article envisages a sentence from a fine of up to 40,000 roubles to an arrest of up to three months. Udaltsov did not plead guilty.
