YEKATERINBURG, June 15 (Itar-Tass) — Three more suspects within the criminal case of extortion and legalisation of property, a defendant in which is vice mayor of Yekaterinburg Viktor Konteyev have been arrested, the service of the Russian Interior Ministry’s main department for the Ural Federal District told Itar-Tass on Friday.
“The court has made a decision to apply to the detained the measure of restraint in the form of detention in custody,” the press service said.
The suspects were detained as a result of ongoing investigative actions in which documents and media that are important as evidence in the criminal case were found and confiscated.
Viktor Konteyev was detained last August. He was charged with the organisation of two murders of businessmen that were committed for the redistribution of income from the activities of the consumer market companies located in the Ural Federal District. On August 23, 2011, the Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg at the request of the investigation took Konteyev into custody. Later, another charge was brought against him - taking a bribe of 5 million roubles. On June 9, 2012, a new criminal case was opened against the deputy head of the city - his wife and five members of an organised group. They are accused of extortion for the legalisation of property.
