MINSK, June 14 (Itar-Tass) – Belarus and Russia’s constituent region of Bashkortostan have agreed on setting up high-tech manufacturing facilities and holding companies, the produce of which will enjoy high demand on the markets of third countries.
Decisions in this sphere were taken Thursday at the talks between Belarus’s Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich and Bashkortostan’s Governor Rustem Khamitov.
“We agreed on very interesting project that might be implemented within the next three to five years and even in a more remote prospect,” Myasnikovich said. “These projects concern chemistry, including the chemistry of polymeric materials, mechanical engineering, forestry, the glass industry, and the production of caustic ash.”
As regards the chemical industry Belarus and Bashkortostan agreed on making a considerable step forward in that area, he said.
“Bashkortostan has good chemical enterprises and top-notch technologies and it manufactures lots of produce that enjoys high demand in the Belarusian chemical industry, too,” Myasnikovich said.
“Bashkortostan’s President came up with interesting ideas as regards the Belarusian companies’ participation in oil and petrochemical holding companies – the projects that will be implemented in the short term,” he said. “We’ll examine the possible role for our country as an investor and an active partner in these projects.”
Myasnikovich indicated that Bashkortostan, in its turn, is showing interest towards chemical industry projects in Belarus.
He mentioned the project of a holding company in the glass industry where Belarus will be represented by the Gomelsteklo company.
“By creating this holding company, we’ll be able to move forward considerably and prevent an unnecessary competition between our companies on the domestic and international markets likewise,” Myasnikovich said.
Rustem Khamitov said, on his part, the two sides have fair prospects in mechanical engineering, especially if one considers the fact that Bashkortostan has unique technologies in the sphere, for instance, the electrochemical methods of treating metals and alloys.
Also, agreements have been reached on closer cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. For instance, Belarus will render assistance to Bashkortostan in building a system of machines for the production of grain.
Besides, Bashkortostan will build powerful seed breeding farms that will fully ensure the demand of the region’s internal market for seeds.
