MOSCOW, June 14 (Itar-Tass) — Police in the Moscow region shut down six illegal gambling parlors, a spokesman told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

"Agents of the department for combating economic crimes in the Noginsk district, together with personnel of the Federal Security Service department for Moscow and Moscow region, assisted by special task force police, carried out a range of measures to intercept gambling," regional police spokesman Yevgeny Gildeyev said.

The organizers used the Internet to attract clients. "In all, the police shut down six gambling parlors in Noginsk, Fryazevo, Electrougli, Staraya Kupavna and Chernogolovka. They operated for about three months. Police estimate that revenue from one such gambling parlor reached some six million rules. Three suspected owners of the illegal casinos have been detained. They are residents of Noginsk and the Volokolamsk district. The investigation is continuing, according to the spokesman.
