MOSCOW, June 14 (Itar-Tass) —— Anchorwoman Ksenya Sobchak should present explanations about the money found during the search at her flat, Sergei Neverov, secretary of the presidium of United Russia’s general council, said.
“I believe it would be useful for the entire society if Ksenya Sobchak gives all necessary explanations,” he told reporters commenting on intentions of the opposition to claim actions of investigators at courts of different levels.
“If somebody is found to keep at home money of one million euros and several hundred thousand dollars, I believe the society should learn the source of the money and whether taxes have been paid,” Neverov said. It is especially important “if someone positions himself as fighting swindlers and thieves, and at the same time keeps at home the amount of money, which most people in Russia even do not imagine.”
“I am sure people want to hear honest answers. And the form this is to be done – either at the court or to reporters – does not matter,” he said. Meanwhile, “we see that after talking to the investigators Sobchak refuses to speak to media.”
The State Duma’s Chairwoman of the Security Committee Irina Yarovaya stressed “the actions under investigation of criminal cases on violations during the mass events on May 6 should be considered as actions complying with the law.”
Presently, investigation finds out if taxes have been paid of the money found at Sobchak’s, spokesman of Russia’s Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said.
