Putin expresses to Polish PM concern about situation around RF football fans

Vladimir Putin stressed he believes organisers of international championships bear full responsibility for security of fans from other countries in their territories

MOSCOW, June 14 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Poland’s Prime Minister Donals Tusk, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Tusk discussed bilateral cooperation and “made an accent on cooperation in energy,” Peskov said.

“During the conversation, Prime Minister Donald Tusk touched upon the sensitive issue of returning to Poland of remnants of Tu-154, which crashed near Smolensk.”

He added that Vladimir Putin promised “to give necessary orders, and to consider most thoroughly the request from the Polish side.”

“The Russian president expressed concern about the situation about Russian football fans at EURO-2012 /organised in Poland and Ukraine/,” Peskov said.

“Vladimir Putin stressed he believes organisers of international championships of the kind bear full responsibility for security of fans from other countries in their territories,” the press secretary continued.

Earlier, Poland’s Ambassador to Russia Wojciech Zajaczkowski said during the riot, 186 people were detained, where 150 are Polish citizens and 24 are Russians, one is a citizen of Spain and one – of Hungary. “The number of those who got injures has reached 45, including ten police and two Russians,” he said. the ambassador on behalf of the Polish government expressed regret about the incidents. “We always welcome Russian fans,” Zajaczkowski said.
