ORENBURG, June 13 (Itar-Tass) — Over 1.6 million roubles are being provided to the Orenburg region to render material assistance to residents of the Buzuluk district, governor Yuri Berg said on Wednesday.

“Compensation at the amount of 10,000 roubles should be paid to residents shortly,” Berg said.

The funding will be provided from the regional reserve emergencies fund and handed over to the Buzuluk district administration in order to give money to residents under the lists made up by the local authorities. They should determine the procedure for paying compensations and then give a report on the use of the reserve fund means within 30 days.

The regional government said it would keep a tight hold on money supply.

Medical assistance has been rendered to injured persons. A 20-year-old soldier, who had been poisoned by combustion products, was hospitalized in Buzuluk’s central clinic. Then the soldier was transported to the Totsk military hospital.

Now the situation is stabilizing. Residents have started returning to their homes.

The fire started at an artillery ammunition depot 14 kilometres from the town of Koltubanovsky on June 11. The fire was stifled on June 13. The depots belong to one of the military units and occupy an area of 83 hectares.
