Udaltsov to be interrogated over his legal petition

The incident occurred on June 11 during the search at Udaltsov’s flat

MOSCOW, June 13 (Itar-Tass) — Coordinator of the Left Front Sergei Udaltsov and his wife Anastasia will be interrogated over their petition against illegal video recording and the penetration of NTV correspondent Yelena Zhigulina in their flat, Udaltsov’s lawyer Violetta Volkova told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“Today after the interrogation in the Investigation Committee we will go to the Simonovsky department of the Investigation Committee for an interrogation over a petition against illegal actions of the NTV journalist,” she said.

The incident occurred on June 11 during the search at Udaltsov’s flat. The oppositionist was keeping illegally NTV correspondent Yelena Zhigulina, to which he permitted to enter the flat, the press service of the NTV television company reported. “NTV correspondent Yelena Zhigulina entered the flat, which had been searched through before, with the permission of Udaltsov, who was staying in the kitchen and the entrance door was open,” the press service said. “After the correspondent entered the flat, Anastasia Udaltsova and the lawyer followed her and stated that the journalist entered the flat without any permission of the hosts,” the press service reported.

“They were attempting to seize a mobile telephone and a video camera from Zhigulina, however, she succeeded to get in touch with the police,” the press service said. “The police set the TV reporter free,” the NTV press service reported.

However, Udaltsov stated that Zhigulina was making the illegal video recording in his flat. The young reporter “unexpectedly entered” the flat and was filming the consequences of the search.

“She was filming the consequences of the search, though no one permitted her to enter the flat and make some recording. I asked her to go out and erase the video record, which she made in my flat. My lawyer Violetta Volkova was also present at the moment. She refused to do it. Finally we called the police,” he said. Udaltsov noted that no one was keeping the NTV journalist illegally.

The inquiry before the investigation continues over the incident.
