MINSK, June 12 (Itar-Tass) —— A Su-25 warplane crashed near the testing ground in the Novogrudsky district of Belarus’ Grodno region, the press service of the Belarusian defence ministry reported on Tuesday.
“The plane was making a nap-of-the-earth training flight,” the press service said. The pilot began to lose control of the plane at an altitude of 200 meters. The commander ordered the pilot to bale out. The pilot managed to divert the plane from the village of Noviny and the plane crashed two kilometers off the village. The pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Gridnev, died.
An investigation is underway.
