MOSCOW, June 12 (Itar-Tass) —— The national holiday Day of Russia marks not only cardinal democratic and economic changes, which began over 20 years earlier, but the entire historic way of the Russian state, which has been living and developing for over eleven centuries, Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.
Putin called for remembering “Russia has given to the world unique examples of true selfless devotion, courage, spiritual strength in war, labour and civil development.”
“This country has preserved true cultural, literature masterpieces, unique scientific discoveries, and the Russian nation has made an enormous input in the progress of the entire civilisation,” he said at a reception devoted to Day of Russia.
“For us unacceptable is everything which weakens the country, disintegrates the society. Unacceptable are any decisions and steps which may result in social and economic crises. This is exactly what our national memory tells us.”
“Russia should be open for everything new and advanced. And at the same time it should use the gained potential of stability.” He said this is a strong basis for successful modernisation of the economy, political system and social relations.
Putin said “new parties are emerging in Russia, leaders of regions are elected directly.” These positive tendencies require from the leaders of all levels to be open and to continue an on-going dialogue with the society.
