Udaltsov does not show up for questioning at Investigative Committee

Oppositionists Alexei Navalny, Ilya Yashin and anchorwoman Ksenya Sobchak came to Russia’s Investigative Committee for questioning

MOSCOW, June 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Oppositionists Alexei Navalny, Ilya Yashin and anchorwoman Ksenya Sobchak came to Russia’s Investigative Committee for questioning.

They received the order to come for the questioning during the searches at their flats on Monday.

“Investigators intend to clear out their role over the preparation and organisation of the mass rally /the so-called March of Millions/, and to learn information about organisers and active participants of the mass riots,” spokesman of the Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said on Monday.

The investigators expected on Tuesday coordinator of the Left Front Sergei Udaltsov, but he had not come. His lawyer Violetta Volkova said Udaltsov’s wife Anastasia had come for the questioning, and Udaltsov had sent to the investigators an address where he explains he cannot attend the questioning as he is one of the organisers of the March of Millions due on Tuesday and needs to be present at the rally in order to coordinate it.

Volkova added Udaltsov had written he would be ready to come to the Investigative Committee any other day.

Participants in the March of Millions will gather at noon in Pushkinskaya Square in Moscow. The oppositionists hope to manage it to the rally after the questioning.

While responding to the question about the investigation of the case, the oppositionists said “this is nonsense, there were no riots.”
