BELGRADE, June 11 (Itar-Tass) —— The Albanian parliament elected Interior Minister Bujar Nishani the new president on Monday, June 11.

The five-year term of the incumbent president, Bamir Topi, ends on July 24, 2012.

Presidents in Albania are elected by a three-fifth majority of the People’s Assembly by secret ballot.
