MOSCOW, June 9 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky has described the ongoing presence of Lenin’s body in the mausoleum on Red Square as an ‘absurdity’ and suggested burying it with honors.

In an interview with the Ekho Moskvy radio, Medinsky explained that it was his personal point of view.

“The mausoleum building should be left intact and turned into a museum of Soviet history. That would have been a very popular museum with expensive entrance tickets. But the ongoing presence of Lenin’s body there is absurd. I think his body should be buried,” Medinsky told Ekho Moskvy on Saturday.

He said that any posthumous trials over Lenin were unnecessary.

“After all, Lenin was the country’s top official. Therefore, he has to be buried, if such a decision is made, according to an official ritual in a decent place,” the Russian culture minister went on to say.
