MOSCOW, June 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN/LAS Envoy on Syria Kofi Annan stressed the need to pool international efforts in the Syrian peace process by phone on Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
“Lavrov and Annan agreed to the need to pool international efforts towards the achievement of political and diplomatic settlement in Syria. The minister underlined the Russian initiative of the soonest convocation of an international conference with the attendance of all the key external players,” the ministry said.
“The sides agreed to maintain permanent contact and to work jointly towards a political solution of the Syrian problem through the broad national dialog with international support,” the ministry said.
