Russian national squad ready for Euro 2012 opener-football

“We’ve trained a lot and we expect good results,” Advocaat said

WROCLAW, Poland, June 7 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s national squad is ready for its first Euro 2012 match against the Czech Republic on June 8, the Russian team’s head coach, Dick Advocaat told a news conference on Thursday.

He said that after the weeks of training the team was ready for the opener. The victory over Italy in a friendly certainly gives confidence to the Russians but Advocaat warned he expected a totally different game on Friday.

“We’ve trained a lot and we expect good results,” Advocaat said.

He described Briton Howard Webb who’s going to referee the Friday opener as one of the world’s best referees.

Speaking about the Czechs, Advocaat said they were a different team now from what they used to be back in 2004. “We know what can be expected from them,” he added.

The match vs. the Czech Republic will start at 22:45 Moscow time on Friday.
