Attempts to settle Iran nuke issue by force unacceptable

This is stated in the declaration adopted on the results of the 12th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

BEIJING, June 7 (Itar-Tass) — Any attempts to settle the Iranian nuclear problem by force are unacceptable and are fraught with unpredictable consequences. This is stated in the declaration adopted on the results of the 12th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

The SCO countries believe that “any attempts to settle the Iranian problem by force are unacceptable and lead to unpredictable consequences, threatening the stability and security in the region and the world at large.” In the declaration the organisation’s member states “call on the sides to display maximum restraint and avoid statements and actions that could lead to further confrontation.”

The SCO member countries, the document says, “support the launch of the process of a sustained dialogue between the Six and Iran with the aim of settling the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means, through dialogue and negotiations between the parties concerned.”
