MAKHACHKALA, June 7 (Itar-Tass) — One policeman has been killed and another wounded and hospitalised as a result of a shootout in the city of Kizilyurt, Dagestan.
The republic’s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass that “at about 23:30, Moscow time, Wednesday, in the Novo-Sulak suburban settlement unknown gunmen opened fire on a VAZ-2109 car in which there were two police officers.”
Police Lieutenant Bagaudin Ramazanov died in the central city hospital of Kizilyurt. He left behind a wife and three children.
The attackers fled, presumably in a white Lada Priora car. The police are searching for them.
A criminal case has been opened under several articles of the RF Criminal Code, including “attempt on the life of law enforcement officers” and “Illicit trafficking in arms and ammunition.” More than 60 cartridges of 5.45 mm calibre were seized from the crime scene.
