BEIJING, June 6 (Itar-Tass) — Russia and China will expand cooperation in the sphere of civil aviation, said Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov who accompanied President Vladimir Putin during his visit to China.

Issues of joint projects in the sphere of engine building were discussed at the 7th meeting of the bilateral sub-commission on civil aviation and civil aircraft building. In particular, representatives of the United Engine Building Corporation offered to the Chinese side to consider the possibility of cooperation on the engine for the S-119 plane based on the competency created in the development of the Russian PD-14 engine. In addition, the Russian side is interested in cooperation in the sphere of the creation of gas-compressor units on the basis of aircraft gas turbine engines.

According to Manturov, “Russia produces rather competitive products, we have built up the package expertise and wish the Russian companies’ capacities be in demand with Chinese consumers.”

Projects of long-range wide-body aircraft, a memorandum on which has already been signed by Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation and the Chinese corporation COMAC are considered as the priorities of bilateral cooperation.
