15th servicemen of Kazakh burned border post found alive

ASTANA, June 5 (Itar-Tass) — The 15th serviceman of the Argkankergen border post in Almaty region on the Kazakh-Chinese frontier has been found alive, Kazakh Interior Minister Kulmukhamet Kasymov told reporters on Tuesday.

The border guard was found in a winter hut on Monday. He has been questioned, the minister said. He added that the serviceman was carrying the weapon of his commander.

Twelve servicemen and a local gamekeeper were found dead at the burned down Argkankergen border post on May 30. Two more bodies were found on June 1. The border post is manned by 15 servicemen in summertime. A criminal case was opened.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev declared June 5 the day of national mourning for the slain border guards.
