MOSCOW, June 3 (Itar-Tass) — Organisers of protest actions, scheduled for June 12 in Moscow, set up a common working group, Itar-Tass learnt from one of organizers of a rally, devoted to holding a referendum on early termination of powers of the Moscow City Council and the Moscow mayor, and member of the League of Voters Sergei Parkhomenko.

“We agreed with the organizing committee of “the March of Millions” to set up a common working group,” he said.

“The two events – a march and our rally – are no competitors to each other; there is no split between us, and these are two parts of a single day of protest actions,” Parkhomenko emphasized.

“But each action has its own ‘political agenda’. Guided by this circumstance, they should be staged at different times, but should be held within the Garden Circle, not far from each other so that participants in one action could participate in the next one,” he added.

Parkhomenko noted that the Sakharov Avenue where the townhall proposed the League staging a rally on a city referendum, is not suitable, since it is far from other squares in downtown Moscow.

“Our reply to the townhall’s proposal will, in essence, repeat a reply of “March of Millions” organizers: we need a square within the Garden Circle,” Parkhomenko specified.

“If the townhall turns down the proposals of the organizing committees of the March and of ours, we shall gather together again and will decide what to do next in this situation,” he stated.

In compliance with legislation, the authorities are to agree places of mass actions three days prior to their staging.

Earlier, the Moscow City Hall refused to agree ”the March of Millions” (50,000 people) on June 12 from the Tverskaya Zastava with staging a rally in the Borovitskaya Square, suggesting shifting it to the Frunzenskaya Embankment with a rally near the Andreyevsky bridge.

The League of Voters was refused to hold a rally on June 12 (10,000) in the public garden near the museum and the public centre named after Academician Sakharov with a proposal to hold it in the Sakharov Avenue.
