MOSCOW, June 2 (Itar-Tass) — Organisers of the so-called March of Millions and a rally devoted to holding a Moscow referendum on an early termination of powers of the Moscow City Council and the Moscow mayor, held a joint meeting and agreed on cooperation during the actions on June 12, one of organizers of “the March of Millions” and leader of the Left Front Sergei Udaltsov told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

“We agreed that the two actions do not contradict each other, and one action should develop into another, and we shall coordinate our plans,” he said.

According to Udaltsov, “there are no more clear-cut understandings so far, since the two organizing committees continue talks with the Moscow City Hall on a place of holding the actions”.

Coordinator of “the League of Voters”, organizing a rally on a city referendum, Nikolai Belyaev confirmed that the two organizing committees agreed on cooperation.

“On Monday I shall submit a reply to the Moscow City Hall to its proposal on shifting our rally to the Sakharov Avenue. This proposal is not suitable for us, and we turn it down. We need grounds within the Garden Circle to stage the rally, while the Sakharov Avenue is outside the Circle,” the League coordinator said.

“Oranisers of “the March of Millions” intend to hold it within the Garden Circle, and since the two actions are parts of a single day of protest actions, and participants in our rally will join later the March, it is important to ensure a safe transition of people so that the authorities did not assess this as an unauthorized march. The Sakharov Avenue is not good in this sense,” Belyaev explained.

The League did not give an alternative version for a place of mounting the rally. “Only a proposal to grant a place within the Garden Circle,” the League coordinator specified.

Earlier, the Moscow City Hall refused to permit “the March of Millions” (50,000 people) planned for June 12, from the Tverskaya Zastava with holding a rally in the Borovitskaya Square, suggesting to shift it to the Frunzenskaya Embankment with a rally near the Andreyevsky Bridge.

“The League of Voters” was turned down a proposal to hold a meeting on June 12 (10,000 people) in a public garden near the museum and the public centre named after Academician Sakharov, but was proposed to stage it in the Sakharov Avenue.
