MINSK, June 1 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday continues a series of blitz-visits to European countries that was started on Thursday with a visit to Minsk. After ending his official visit to Belarus with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Victory Monument in central Minsk, Putin will travel to Berlin.
In the capital of Germany the Russian president will hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel. The two leaders will speak about their results at a joint press conference.
Putin’s visit to Germany will end several hours after the beginning, and then the Russian president will go to France. The visit to Paris during which the Russian leader will hold talks with President Francois Hollande, will also last only a few hours. Thus, on Friday Putin will have time to visit three different countries.
Earlier, Putin has already made such quick visits in the presidential capacity. For example, during one of his trips to the Middle East, Putin also during one day visited Saudi Arabia, then Qatar and Jordan.
The current series of visits is the first foreign trip of Putin since he took office. It is interesting that after the first election victory in 2000 his first foreign visit was also to Belarus. Then the whole series of visits also included three European capital cities - Minsk, Kiev and London.
