MOSCOW, May 31 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Vice-Premier Alexander Khloponin said on Thursday that the North Caucasian region was running into huge gas and energy debts.
“The situation with debts in gas and energy sectors is already critical,” Khloponin emphasized. Gas indebtedness amounts to 8 billion rubles. The energy debt reached 5 billion rubles in the first quarter of 2012, while consumers pay 98% of their bills.
Khloponin suggests holding a briefing session on gas supplies in the North Caucasus.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has supported the idea.
