KAZAN, May 31 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian companies plan to further increase the export of grain and wheat flour to Indonesia, according to the agreement reached by Russian Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov and his Indonesian counterpart H. Suswono at a meeting of agricultural ministers in Kazan, Tatarstan, on Wednesday, May 30, as part of preparations for the APEC summit in September of this year.

“Russia can export one million tonnes of grain to Indonesia annually,” Fyodorov said.

In addition to supplying grain and flour, Russia is interested to create joint ventures to grow palm trees and process palm oil in Indonesia. According to the Federal Customs Service, palm oil accounts for more than 65 percent of Russian import from Indonesia, and coconut and palm kernel oil for 11 percent.

The two ministers discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, including in the field of veterinary control. During the two-day – May 30-31 – meeting, 21 APEC ministers of agriculture are discussing food security in the region.
