MOSCOW, May 30 (Itar-Tass) — The magistrate section of Moscow's Basmanny Court on Wednesday fined blogger and Opposition activist Alexei Navalny for violations during the so-called "peaceful stroll" on May 8.
Navalny was found guilty under Article 20.2, Part 2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses /KoAP/ /"involvement in violating the established order for holding assembly, march or picket"/. The court meted out the maximum punishment for him. Navalny did not turn up at the hearing.
He was detained near the Kitai-Gorod subway station on May 8, where the Opposition spent the night near the Plevna Heroes Memorial.
Navalny called the action "indefinite round-the-clock people's stroll."
Earlier this week, reports said the Investigative Committee /SK/ ordered to reopen the probe against Navalny in the case over damage to the Kirovles company in 2009.
Navalny committed a number of illegitimate actions, which caused a 1.3-milion-rouble damage to the Kirovles state unitary enterprise, the SK investigators said.
Navalny is known by placing compromising materials against large companies and banks on the Internet. The mass media said Navalny is a minority shareholder of many companies, so he has access to a number of documents.
The blogger earlier said the criminal case against him had been fabricated and that it had no trial prospects.
