Airberlin launches regular flights en route Berlin-Kaliningrad

Airberlin will become the first and only air company from Central Europe that will make non-stop flights from Russia’s northernmost city of Kaliningrad to the German capital

KALININGRAD, May 30 (Itar-Tass) — Germany’s Airberlin will begin regular flights en route Berlin-Kaliningrad-Berlin from June 5, the company’s spokeswoman Janina Zitz told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

Airberlin will become the first and only air company from Central Europe that will make non-stop flights from Russia’s northernmost city of Kaliningrad to the German capital at first three times a week and four times a week beginning from September, she said.

On June 5, the German air carrier’s first flight will bring to Kaliningrad Airberlin Vice President International Sales, Mats Jacobsson, and Regional Director for Eastern Europe, Stefan Magiera, who will take part in a reception to mark this event.

Airberlin is Germany’s second largest air company that carries around 30 million passengers a year. Every year the company gets over 10 awards for services and quality. Airberlin makes flights to 162 destinations in 40 countries, at the same time 25 destination and departure airports are located in Germany. The air carrier’s hub airports are Berlin Tegel, D·sseldorf, Palma de Mallorca and Vienna.

Since March 20 Airberlin has become a member of Oneworld Alliance offering their passengers joint flights together with American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Royal Jordanian, S7 and Japan Airlines.
