Police opened criminal cases against two municipal council officials in northern Moscow

MOSCOW, May 30 (Itar-Tass) — Police opened criminal cases against two municipal council officials in northern Moscow. The head of the Molzhaninovo district board is suspected of extorting more than one million roubles from business persons for uninterrupted operation of retail outlets along a stretch of the Oktyabrskaya railway. The official was detained on May 24, the city police press service told Itar-Tass.

The head of the Beskudnikovo district board was detained on the same day, on suspicion of abetting the crime, it added.

The head of the Molzhaninovo district board has already been charged under Article 30, Part 3 /preparing for crime and attempted crime/ and Article 159, Part 4 /fraud/. A court sanctioned his custody.

The Beskudnikovo district official has been taken in custody, too police said.
