Medvedev to attend meeting of Council of CIS Heads of Government Ashgabat

There are about 20 issues on the agenda

ASHGABAT, May 30 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday will take part in a meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government in Ashgabat which will take place in the narrow and expanded formats.

There are about 20 issues on the agenda. The parties, in particular, will discuss strategy for the development of hydrometeorology activity of CIS member countries. Particular attention will be paid to the strategy of the development of physical culture and sports of the Commonwealth for the period up to 2020. The heads of government will discuss the concept of liberalisation of financial services, the agreement on cooperation in organising an integrated currency market in the CIS space. The life of young people will also be given major attention. In particular, the meeting participants will discuss the plan of events for 2012 - 2013 to implement the strategy of the CIS international youth cooperation.

The Council members will talk on the free trade zone, on amending the Treaty on ensuring parallel operation of electrical power systems, will sum up the implementation of the Council’s decisions, adopted in 2010 on the development of the CIS countries’ economies. The meeting will also discuss security issues, cooperation in the sphere of industry. The CIS Executive Committee plans to propose the establishment of the Council on Industrial Policy of CIS countries.

The agenda also includes issued of the Commonwealth states’ base organisation for the study of problems of air defence, cooperation in the sphere of engineer support of the armed forces in the CIS space.

After the meeting of the Council it is planned to sign a package of joint documents.

Medvedev will also hold bilateral meetings - with Prime Minister of Moldova Vlad Filat and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
