MOSCOW, May 30 (Itar-Tass) — About 2,600 people in the Karachai-Cherkessia Republic (KCR) have remained without electricity on Tuesday owing to a strong wind, an official in the press service of the Russian Ministry for Emergenices (RME) center for KCR told Itar-Tass by telephone on Tuesday night.
"A squally wind disrupted the supply of electriity to about 2,600 people in Kosh-Khabl Aul (village), Khabez District. The wind also damaged the roofs of several houses," the RME center's official said. Socially significant and potentially hazardous facilities remained unaffected by the wind, he added.
A damage control team of the District power networks is at work at the scene. Power supply is expected to be restored by Wednesday afternoon.
"Noone has been hurt," the Republican RME center's official pointed out.
