ASTANA, May 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visited the Nazarbayev University at the end of his visit to Kazakhstan. Medvedev studied the researches in various spheres, talked to students and professors at the Nazarbayev University. Kazakh counterpart Karim Masimov accompanied Medvedev in a tour of the university.
When the Russian premier arrived in the university, chairman of the executive council Aslan Sarinzhipov showed to Medvedev a mock-up model of the university campus and told him about the higher educational establishment. Medvedev visited educational and research laboratories at the university. A professor told him about the developments in a laboratory of energy researches, where new methods for the treatment of various diseases are being developed. In particular, Medvedev was told about the methods under development for the therapy of oncologic diseases at the late stage and the technology for the replacement of narrow coronary vessels.
“You will achieve high results,” the Russian premier said. Medvedev also visited the laboratories of microbiology and biotechnologies.
In the laboratory of robotics and mechatronics the Russian prime minister studied several inventions, which the university students created. In particular, Medvedev watched a small robot, which can pick up the balls from the pitch. The students said that they are going to present this invention at an exhibition in Singapore. Medvedev steered this robot for some time.
The premier also studied a tactically controlled platform for distant surgeries.
Medvedev visited a university library, where he talked to the students and employees, who praised the Skolkovo technopark project and offered cooperation to the Russian premier.
“You have a perfect project, we should be on friendly terms, first we should cooperate in information resources and in other spheres in the future,” the premier answered to the proposal.
The students presented several gifts to the Russian prime minister. They presented a baseball cap and a hoodie for sports, proposing to him to wear them during jogging.
“If not for jogging, I can ride a bike in these clothes,” Medvedev said, thanking for the gift.
The students proposed to the prime minister to cooperate in student sports.
“I have a very good attitude to this. Let’s try to unite the student sport in our countries, prepare your proposals,” Medvedev said.
At the end of the meeting Medvedev decided to take pictures of students on his iPhone.
“Let me take a picture of all of you, then I will send it in Istragram and Twitter,” he said, but the students talked him and the Kazakh premier into taking a picture with them.
The photo was taken, particularly on the iPhone of the Russian prime minister, who pledged to post it in his Twitter microblog.
The students presented the Russian premier with one more gift that is an oil-painted spiral pictogram.
The Nazarbayev University was established at the initiative of the Kazakh president as an elite educational establishment for the education of highly qualified staff and the development of Kazakh scientific researches and developments. A little less than 1,000 students study in the university. Four scientific centres function in the university.
