MOSCOW, May 29 (Itar-Tass) — City police detained a Dagestan native suspected of involvement in the attack on the son of diseased State Duma lawmaker Nadirshakh Khachilayev and his friend.
An unidentified man attacked Murtuza Khachilayev and his friend in Balaklavsky Prospekt /Avenue/ overnight to May 24. The man fired several shots at the young people and fled. The wounded youngsters were hospitalized. Khachilayev's friend died without regaining consciousness, a law-enforcement officer told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
According to information that appeared on the Internet after the attack, Murtuza Khachilayev was to meet on that day with the man who had been making insulting remarks about his father on the Internet.
"In the course of an operation, Moscow detectives detained a suspect in Obruchev Street. He is an unemployed resident of Dagestan, aged 33, who had temporary registration in the capital. Police seized a Makarov pistol from him," the law-enforcement officer said.
"The investigators are questioning the detainee to ascertain the reasons behind the attack," he added.
