KIEV, May 29 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine's Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said Monday night he believes that attendance of the Euro'2012 football championship games is a private business of European politicans.
Inter TV channel said Azarov said this in an interview with Polish radio.
He recalled that during his recent visit to Brussels he received the assurances that no one of EU politicians was raising the issue of a political boycott of Euro'2012 in the wake of the criminal case of former Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko, who is serving a seven-year jail term in a general penal colony in Kharkov for an abuse of occupational powers in 2009.
"Still, if someone decides to express his or her political position by not coming, this is their private business," Azarov ssid. "We'll really draw conclusions from it and will take account of it in our future politics."
"We're the hosts of the championship and like any hospitable hosts wse'd be glad to see good guests here today," he said. "It would be nice to know they came here with open hearts, attended the games, and communicated with one another."
Ukraine and Poland co-host the Euro'2012 games.
